About this Board
Chris is the Owner/Director of The Alternative Board in Auckland South, through which he facilitates advisory boards, provides strategy support and offers 1:2:1 business coaching to Business Owners, Emerging Leaders, CEO’s and Directors.
He is also the Director of Supportlab Ltd, a Company that he formed in 2017 to provide support services to the Attractions industry and other business sectors.
Prior to this Chris was the CEO of Rainbow’s End Theme Park in Auckland, a position he held for a 10-year period from October 2007 to December 2017. He was the Operations Manager for a five-year period prior to this.
During his tenure as CEO the park faced numerous challenges yet achieved significant growth and received a number of prestigious international and local awards.
Chris is recognised as a Certified Attractions Executive (ICAE) through the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), and he has been a regular speaker, panellist, mentor and judge at the IAAPA Attractions Expos in the United States, Asia and Australia. His most recent speaking engagement was in October 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand.
He was a member of the IAAPA Human Resources Committee in the US for three years from 2015 to 2017 and the IAAPA Asia Pacific Education Committee in 2018.
Before working at Rainbow’s End Chris was a Police Officer in the New Zealand Police for a period of seven years. He worked in a variety of roles, completed his sergeant’s exams and qualified as a youth aid officer.
While in the Police Chris co-founded a company called Pro-Active Ventures, which was established to provide a comprehensive programme designed for male recidivist youth offenders. The programme was endorsed by Police and funded and supported by multiple agencies.
Chris is the current Board Chair of New Zealand Operators of Amusement Devices (NZOAD) an organisation that has been established to support and lead the Amusement Device Industry in New Zealand and to promote health & safety, sustainability, professionalism and integrity in the development and operation of amusement devices.
Chris is also a Board Member/Trustee of the Attainable Trust based in Auckland, an organisation which supports people with disabilities to become more included and accepted in the community.
