About this Board
As a passionate Cantabrian who has lived in Christchurch for more than 40 years, Chris is an experienced Executive Leader, hugely passionate about building successful teams and organisations with genuine people-centred leadership and integrity.
Chris has a relaxed and approachable style and brings a down-to-earth and practical perspective to the challenges associated with running businesses in the region today.
Chris had a 20+ year career within the local government sector where he gained considerable experience in the sports, events and facility management space. He has worked in senior leadership roles across facility operations, services management, marketing, event promotions and strategic planning. Personal highlights included delivering the completion of Council’s high-value transformation programme to support the recovery of Christchurch and also leading the operational team that successfully reopened the iconic Christchurch Town Hall following extensive post-EQ refurbishment.
Chris is an experienced senior facilitator of leadership development programmes – both with individuals and groups. He also has governance experience as both a school board chairperson and as a trustee on a not-for-profit.
Chris is an authentic and honest connector who is motivated to make things happen by empowering people and teams, building strong relationships and keeping all stakeholders engaged. He is passionate about helping owners to clarify both personal and organisational visions and ensuring that effective goals to achieve these are put into action with energy and commitment.
Outside of work, Chris is happily married with two teenage sons, and enjoys watching a wide variety of sports, attempting to create culinary masterpieces in the kitchen, and collecting useless trivia for his regular quiz night appearances.
With a clear passion for helping others to be successful and realise their full potential and personal vision, Chris is proud to be part of The Alternative Board NZ team as a Business Coach and Facilitator in Christchurch & Canterbury.
